|

Close your eyes my blessed child
Sleep and dream of Fairyland
Rest and know that you are loved
Til the morning comes again
The cares of day they melt away
You are cherished come what may
In Brighid's arms
Brighid holds you in her arms
So rest your weary head
She will keep you safe from harm
As you snuggle warm in bed
The cares of day they melt away
You are cherished come what may
In Brighid's arms

I have been a salmon blue,
I have been a dog, a stag,
a roebuck on the highest peak,
A stock, a spade, an axe in hand,
A steed, a bull, a running buck,
I was swallowed by a hen
Nine nights was I in her crop.
I was dead, reborn again
I am Taliesin.
I know why the echo rings;
Why silver gleams; why breath is black
Why milk is white; why holly's green;
Why brine is salt; why ravens fly
Why linnet's green and berries red;
I have heard the ocean cry;
Find me where the white bird sings
I was dead, reborn again
I am Taliesin.

Am G Am G Em C G Am Em
On this night, on this night,
Every night and all,
Hearth and house and candle-light,
And the Donn receive your soul
When from here away you pass
Every night and all,
To Thorny Moor you come at last;
And the Donn receive your soul
If ever you gave hose and shoes,
Every night and all,
Sit then down and put them on;
And the Donn receive your soul
But if hose and shoes you gave none
Every night and all,
The thorns shall prick you to the bone;
And the Donn receive your soul
From Thorny Moor then you may pass,
Every night and all,
To the Bridge of Dread you come at last;
And the Donn receive your soul
If ever you gave silver and gold,
Every night and all,
At the Bridge of Dread you'll find foothold,
And the Donn receive your soul
But if silver and gold you gave none
Every night and all:
You'll tumble down to the House of Donn
And the Donn receive your soul
From Bridge of Dread then you may pass,
Every night and all,
To purging fire you'll come at last;
And the Donn receive your soul
If ever you gave meat or drink,
Every night and all,
The fire will never make you shrink;
And the Donn receive your soul
But if meat or drink you gave none,
Every night and all,
The fire will burn you to the bone;
And the Donn receive your soul
On this night, on this night,
Every night and all,
Hearth and house and candle-light,
And the Donn receive your soul

Twas the night before solstice when all through the grove
The snow began falling from the heavens above
The mistletoe hung on the post by the stair
For we knew that the Oak King soon would be there
The children were nestled all snug in their beds
While dreams of the Winter Queen danced in their heads
While my wife she lay sleeping I donned my robe
And stepped through the door of our humble abode
When out in the woods there arose such a peace
Not a creature was stirring; neither human nor beast
The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow
Like a crown on the trees set the forest aglow
When what to my wondering eyes should be seen
But a beautiful lady in a fine silk of green
A tiara of snowflakes she wore on her head
Her cheeks were all rosy; her lips deepest red
Her shadow did dance in the bright candle flame
That she held in her hands as she called me by name
The snow on the ground as a carpet appeared
As I walked down the path the flakes clung to my beard
In the bright winter silence there in the wood
I knelt in her presence and threw back my hood
She reached out her hand gently touching my head
When she smiled I knew I had nothing to dread
A blessing she spoke that was barely a sound
Then I pulled up my hood and arose from the ground
Then I noticed her belly was round and full-formed
Twas the Mabon within her soon to be born
She gave me a nod and a kiss on the nose
And with a wink of her eye to the sky she arose
And I heard her exclaim as she flew into the night
"Happy Solstice to all, and to all a good night!"

(pronounced SHEN-ka SKAYNE)
I study all forms of spirituality.
The more I learn about paths from
around the world, the more I know they all have more in common than not.
I seek the ancient origins of spirituality; the realms of animism and shamanism.
I began music in 1974. My influences were Neil Young, John Prine, Dan Fogelberg, and Pink Floyd.
Now I seek the mystical through music.
